Abstract

Curcumin (CAS 458-37-7) is a major curcuminoid found in Curcuma longa, the plant source of turmeric. It belongs to the diarylheptanoid family and is known as diferuloylmethane. The structure consists of two ferulic acid units linked by a seven-carbon chain. This unique configuration gives curcumin its bright yellow color and broad pharmacological activity.

Researchers highly value curcumin for its strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
