Soyasapogenol B

CAS: 595-15-3
CAT: 4986

Abstract

Soyasapogenol B (CAS 595-15-3) is derived from soya bean (Glycine max). The compound belongs to the family of oleanane triterpenes. Amongst soyasapogenols, content of soyasapogenol B has been found to be higher as compared to soyasapogenol A. Soyasapogenol B has been reported to have biological functions in cell signaling, membrane integrity and stability and energy storage. It may also demonstrate hypo-cholesterolemic effects and decrease triglyceride levels.

Research is being done into the effect it has on inhibiting LPS-induced increases in the levels of nitric oxide (NO) when the immune system is fighting a bacterial infection.
