Ganoderic Acid A

Abstract

Ganoderma lucidum (reishi mushroom) has been traditionally used for increasing energy, improving immunity, and promoting health and longevity. Polysaccharides and triterpenoids are its two main types of compounds and considered to be responsible for its pharmacological activities. Ganoderic acids are the major components of the Ganoderma triterpenes. There are many of these acid monomers, including Ganoderic acid A, C2, D, F, G, and DM.

Ganoderic acid A (CAS 81907-62-2) is effective in retarding renal cyst development in polycystic kidney disease. Recently, the anticancer activity of this compound has gained considerable attention. Research showed that this compound exhibits antitumor activity on human osteosarcoma, lymphoma, meningioma, and breast cancer cells.
