Abstract

Cinchonain Ia and Cinchonain Ib (CAS 85022-69-1) are bioactive compounds found in catuaba (Trichilia catigua) bark. These plants are often utilized for their energizing and libido-enhancing qualities. Moreover, catuaba bark is considered a central nervous system stimulant with aphrodisiac properties and is used to promote sexual health, serenity, comfort, and memory.

Research has indicated that cinchonain Ib has insulinotropic activity. This may indicate the use of cinchonain Ib for managing type 2 diabetes.
