Abstract

Cinchonain Ia (CAS 85081-24-9) and Cinchonain Ib are bioactive compounds found in catuaba (Trichilia catigua) bark. These plants are often utilized for their energizing and libido-enhancing qualities. Moreover, catuaba bark is considered a central nervous system stimulant with aphrodisiac properties and is used to promote sexual health, serenity, comfort, and memory.

Recent research has indicated that cinchonain Ia has antitumor and anti-inflammatory effects. This may indicate the use of cinchonain Ia in the development of nanoliposomal particles for cancer treatment.
