Metalaxyl-M – CAS 70630-17-0

Metalaxyl-M (CAS 70630-17-0) is the biologically active enantiomer (R-enantiomer) of the racemic compound, metalaxyl, which is a systemic fungicide. Metalaxyl-M contains 97%+ of the R-enantiomer. A study of metalaxyl residues in soil suggested that the R-enantiomer was degraded the quickest which suggests that when metalaxyl-M is used as a seed treatment or at the time of sowing, very little or none should remain as a residue in the soil at harvest. Targets of Metalaxyl-M include seed and soil-borne diseases caused by fungi, such as Pythium, Phytophthora, Peronospora, and other downy mildews. This fungicide is primarily utilized on cotton, sunflowers, peas, beans, corn, and soybeans by inhibiting mycelial growth and spore formation in target pathogens.
