Epicatechin Gallate – CAS 1257-08-5

Epicatechin-3-O-gallate (CAS 1257-08-5) is a gallate ester obtained by formal condensation of the carboxy group of gallic acid with the (3R)-hydroxy group of epicatechin. It is a natural product found in Parapiptadenia rigida. Epigallocatechin gallate is also the major catechin, accounting for 59% of the total catechins in green tea. Epicatechin-3-O-gallate it plays an important role in cell growth inhibition, apoptosis and membrane transport system which contributes to its anti-cancer properties. Therefore, it is a powerful antioxidant as well as an antiangiogenic and antitumor agent. It prevents a wide range of cancers, including liver, stomach, skin, lung, mammary gland and colon cancers.
