Cimicifugoside H-1

Abstract

Cimicifugoside H-1 (CAS 163046-73-9) and Cimicifugoside H-2 are natural triterpene glycosides found in the roots/rhizomes of black cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa). Black cohosh was traditionally used for the treatment of menopausal symptoms, menstrual cramps, and other conditions. Studies have shown it can be successfully used in mammary cancer patients without having adverse effects on breast tissue. These are not estrogenic compound, they have a different pharmacological action which positively influence postmenopausal syndrome. Studies have shown that these compounds decrease the proliferative action of estrogen, and were able to alter the growth of hormone-dependent mammary cancer cells.

Cimicifugoside H-1 and Cimicifugoside H-2 are two of the five main cimicifugosides. These cimicifugosides have gained attention in recent years due to their potential therapeutic effects and roles in drug development.
