Dodeca-2(E),4(E)-Dienoic Acid Isobutylamide

Echinacea is one of the most commonly used traditional herbal medicines today. Both verities, Echinacea purpurea (E. purpurea) and Echinacea angustifolia (E. angustifolia), are commonly used for the production of teas, extracts, tinctures, and various other over the counter products. Alkamides, caffeic acid derivatives, polysaccharides, and glycoproteins are considered to be the compounds responsible for this plant’s immunostimulatory and anti-inflammatory effects. Seventeen alkamides have been identified in E. purpurea. One of these alkamides is dodeca-2(E),4(E)-dienoic acid isobutylamide (CAS 24738-51-0). Pharmacologically, these alkamides have immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory activities. Dodeca-2(E),4(E)-Dienoic Acid Isobutylamide is part of the class of compounds known as tetraenes that may be isolated from echinacea.
