Thiamethoxam – CAS 153719-23-4

Abstract

Thiamethoxam (CAS 153719-23-4) is a synthetic, systematic broad-spectrum insecticide utilized for pest control. Thiamethoxam acts on receptors in the nerve synapse, which interferes with the insects’ bodily functions. It is absorbed quickly by plants and transported to all of its parts, including pollen, where it acts to deter insect feeding. Aside from being a general insecticide, it is also used as a foliar application, a soil treatment, and a seed treatment. Thiamethoxam controls various sucking and chewing insects, including aphids, whitefly, thrips, ricehoppers, rice bugs, mealybugs, white grubs, potato beetles, flea beetles, wireworms, ground beetles, and leaf miners.
